AI Audit or start directly with the AI Management Portal?

Where a suitable Portal module is available, starting directly with a defined use case is preferable. An AI Audit remains useful for broader discovery and domains the Portal does not yet support.

Two routes start from a question: a research path and a path to the Portal

The work question determines the entry

Not every organisation needs a comprehensive study first. If the need is clear and an appropriate module exists, a defined operational start can give a direct insight into the day-to-day operation.

The other way around, a Portal module is not an answer to any strategic question. An organization-wide prioritisation, business case or governance exercise may require a broader analysis.

Choose the Portal with a suitable module

Check if the work demand is supported, the necessary context is available and the team can determine a owner and mandate. Start with a scope that can be responsibly set up and assessed.

The first value comes from the supported operation. Actual use then shows where information is missing, where follow-up can be better and what next improvement is useful.

Choose an Audit for wide discovery

An Audit helps when the domain is not yet operationally covered or when management first wants to choose across multiple processes. Goals, opportunities, risk derivatives and dependencies are translated into priorities and a roadmap.

The outcome should guide implementation. It is not a mandatory additional report if the same need can already be addressed responsibly via an available module.

Combine where that helps

A team can start operationally in one supported domain and also have a broader question examined. Keep the goals and deliverables of both pathways clear, so that work is not unnecessarily repeated.

Discuss the module, required context, owner and acceptance criteria before the start. If not, make explicit what analysis is needed to make the choice.

Frequently asked questions

Is an Audit mandatory?

No. In case of an appropriate module and sufficient context, DSC usually advises to start immediately operational.

Does continuous optimization replace the Audit?

Not for every issue. The formal Audit remains relevant for unsupported domains and broad strategic analysis.

Translate this into your own work question.

See the appropriate module or discuss which step will help your organisation.
